Indian pipe maker Astral expands capacity

New Delhi —   One of India's leading PVC pipe manufacturers, Astral Poly Technik Ltd., is in the midst of an expansion in both the northern and southern parts of the country. The company, based in Ahmedabad, is leasing land from the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corp. Ltd. at the Ghiloh Industrial Area in the Alwar district of Rajasthan. In a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange, the company said the facility will make PVC and chlorinated PVC pipe and fittings, initially for the water market, and said it would initially invest about 70 crore Indian rupees ($11 million). Jain Irrigation bags order of $24 Million

Jain Irrigations announced of receiving an order of $24 Million, in a filing made to BSE on Wednesday. The company titled as NaanDaan Jain Mexico is a subsidiary of Jain Irrigation Systems. The company has been awarded two contracts in Honduras. The overall value of these two contracts is US $ 23.77 million. As per the filing, the company will design, supply, install and commission the plastic pipe networks during the next 2.5 years. At least 6,000 farmers are expected to benefit from this project. The contracts were awarded by Ministry of Agriculture in Honduras. These projects would serve as models for Central American regions, and would align the company’s concept of “Resource to Root”. Chinese press maker Bole adds manufacturing in India

New Delhi —  The Chinese manufacturer of Bole-brand injection molding machines has opened a manufacturing plant in Ahmedabad, India. Zhejiang, China-based Ningbo Shuangma Machinery Industry Co. Ltd. opened a leased factory in June under a new independent subsidiary, Shuangma Machinery India Pvt. Ltd. "We have already commenced production of injection molding presses ranging from 70 to 900 tons at the Gujarat plant," said Ken Cheng, general manager of the subsidiary, in an interview at the Plastasia 2017 trade show in New Delhi. Bole plans to build its own factory in Gujarat in the next couple of years. "Initially, our target is to manufacture 20 presses each month," Cheng said. Bole has ambitious plans to invest $100 million in the India venture over the next four years. Solvay to build sulfone polymer production unit in India

Solvay SA is expanding its global production capacity in sulfone polymers through building a new production plant in India and expanding capacity in the United States. The investments follow Belgian chemicals producer’s announcement last year that it would increase its sulfone polymer capacity by more than 35% in the next five years. The move, said Solvay, is to meet the “significant” demand growth from mainly the medical and water treatment industries for this high-performance thermoplastic material. The investment size was not disclosed. According to Solvay, the new India plant will be dedicated to polyethersulfone (PESU) in Panoli, India. Construction of the plant, said the Brussels-based chemical group, is underway  and production should reach full capacity mid-2019.
